Googong Dam Water Treatment Plant Tour

As a part of the 2019 Googong Dam and Foreshore community engagement program, Icon Water is giving Googong Township, ACT and Queanbeyan-Palerang residents a rare opportunity to tour the Googong Dam Water Treatment Plant.

Date: Sunday 13 October 2019
Tour 1 schedule: 11:15am – 12:30pm
Tour 2 schedule:  1:15pm – 2:30pm

The Googong Dam Water Treatment Plant was built in 1979 to treat water from the Googong Dam. This tour will cover the techniques used to supply water and treat water for the Nation’s Capital and Queanbeyan from 1979 to today. Visitors will learn about the ACT and Queanbeyan Urban Water Cycle, Googong and Cotter catchments, the dams and infrastructure, and the treatment system that supplies our region with fresh clean water.

Each tour is for a maximum of 20 people. As the plant includes stairs, uneven terrain, narrow paths and steep terrain, the tour is not suitable for wheelchair access, prams and strollers or children under five years old.

Spaces are limited, so be quick to register your attendance. All participants must register attendance by Friday 11 October 2019.
