Standpipes and hydrants

Standpipes are portable hydrants designed to be connected to a fire hydrant in a water main to gain access to bulk water.

They are intended to be used by businesses such as contractors or water carters, following application and approval by Icon Water.

Please note: Icon Water currently has no high-flow standpipes available for hire.

Standpipes are not available to residential customers for personal or domestic purposes.

We understand in these current dry conditions that some residents from areas outside the ACT are experiencing long wait times for water cartage. If you are in this situation, your local council can provide information on priority access to bulk water for personal use.
