Water supply affecting part of Canberra Centre is being restored

December 7, 2018

Icon Water is providing a temporary water supply to part of the Canberra Centre to support services affected by a damaged water service line.

This morning, a contractor working in the area of 20 Akuna Street in Civic damaged a major service pipe, affecting the water supply to the southern part of the Canberra Centre. The water network supply servicing all other parts of the Canberra Centre was unaffected.

Icon Water had to close a water supply valve to enable repairs to its valve and the service line and restore water supplies to customers.

To minimise disruption to supply, Icon Water is providing a temporary water service to businesses in the southern part of the Canberra Centre. This will require a 15-30 minute interruption to connect the temporary supply.

The water supplied is drinking water from our network and is safe to drink. There may be some reduced flow and pressure to some services inside the centre for the next few hours.

The works will affect some pedestrian access in the location of 20 Akuna Street, so please take care if you are in the area.

Icon Water apologises for any inconvenience caused to its customers.
