Road closures in place due to burst water main

November 10, 2019

Icon Water are working with Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) to have roads reopened in the City following a burst water main on the corner of University Avenue and London Circuit. The following road closures are currently in place:

  • London Circuit between the Reserve Bank and Farrell Place, in both directions
  • University Avenue between Marcus Clarke Street and London Circuit, in both directions.

Repairs to the burst water main and restoration of services were complete at 3:00pm today however due to the extent of road damage caused by the burst, those repairs will take additional time.

Icon Water expects restoration of the roads may take up to 48 hours to complete, however it’s likely some areas will be reopened from Tuesday morning. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. Further updates will be available on our twitter feed and the homepage of our website www.iconwater.com.au.

We are unable to predict faults such as burst water mains. Water mains can break due to a number of factors including age, soil condition, and interference. As faults are reported to us we respond as quickly as possible.

Icon Water would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the community for their patience.
