Update on road closures due to burst water main

November 11, 2019

Works are still underway to repair road surfaces in the City following a burst water main on the corner of University Avenue and London Circuit on Sunday.

The following roads which have remained closed since the burst, are expected to reopen this evening from 6pm and will remain open for peak hour traffic on Tuesday morning prior to 9am. Roads will then be closed to continue the remaining works, but will reopen from 4:30pm Tuesday afternoon:

  • London Circuit between the Reserve Bank and Farrell Place, in both directions
  • University Avenue between Marcus Clarke Street and London Circuit, in both directions.

Repairs to the burst water main and restoration of services were completed at 3:00pm on Sunday, however due to the extent of road damage caused by the burst, additional repair time has been required.

Icon Water expects restoration of the roads will be complete by Tuesday evening. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. Further updates will be available on our Twitter feed (@iconwater) and our website www.iconwater.com.au.

We are unable to predict faults such as burst water mains. Water mains can break due to a number of factors including age, soil condition, and interference. When faults are reported to us we respond as quickly as possible.

Icon Water would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the community for their patience.
