Intermittent water discolouration and low water pressure possible in Inner North Canberra

June 19, 2020

Icon Water crews will be carrying out essential works on the O’Connor Reservoir from the 22 June to 20 July 2020 which may result in water discolouration and low water pressure intermittently during and after the works.

As the O’Connor Reservoir will be offline during these works, we will be directing water from other sources to maintain an uninterrupted supply to homes and businesses in the area. Due to the redirection of water throughout parts of the network, natural sediment may be stirred or there may be an increase in air in the pipes which could result in intermittent water discolouration, or fluctuations in water pressure.

We don’t recommend that you drink water that appears, tastes or smells objectionable. It’s also better not to use household appliances, such as your dishwasher or washing machine, due to possible staining or discolouration of clothes.

While we will do everything we can to operate our network in a way which minimises disruption, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused due to these works and thank the community for their patience.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact our 24/7 faults and emergency hotline on 02 6248 3111 (option 3). You can also find more information on discoloured water on our website - iconwater.com.au/discolouration.
