Hazardous chemicals

Hazardous chemicals are explosive, flammable, poisonous, toxic, or infectious substances and include:

  • Aerosols
  • Engine oil
  • Insecticides
  • Paint and paint thinners
  • Fuels
  • Lubricants
  • Pesticides
  • Battery acids
  • Medicines
  • Nail polish
  • Chlorine-based and other cleaning products
  • Photographic chemicals
  • Radioactive or toxic waste

Hazardous chemicals can damage your plumbing system, corrode the sewerage network, pose a health threat to the people who maintain our sewers, and harm the environment. To avoid this, these items should be disposed of carefully and appropriately.

For all non-domestic waste, you will need to make a trade waste application before discharging anything to the sewer.
