Water Storage Levels

We do our utmost to keep our figures as accurate and up to date as we can, with Water Storage Levels data updated roughly every 1-2 business days.  Icon Water’s Water Distribution Engineers do need to verify the data that comes directly from the dams and the Bureau of Meteorology to ensure accurate information before it is published to the website. Please contact us if you are experiencing any issues or have feedback.

ACT Dam Storage Levels

Daily water consumption for the ACT and Queanbeyan over the last month

Monthly rainfall - Current year comparison with average

Combined storage levels over 12 Months

Combined storage levels over 5 years

Introducing the new Cotter Dam into our total dam storage capacity means that our total volume increases from 207GL to 278GL. For consistency our calculation method is now aligned to that used by the Bureau of Meteorology ie. counting that volume above the minimum intake level. The above graphic therefore represents previous total storage levels as around 65% of our new maximum level. On completion the storage volume of the new Cotter Dam will be 79.4GL. Therefore for the new Cotter Dam this methodology gives us 76.2GL of usable volume. However in extreme situations it is possible to access the remaining 3.2GL of storage when necessary. In order to remain consistent with the Bureau of Meteorology method we have therefore also aligned Icon Water’s other dams giving revised total capacities of:
Corin 70.8GL
Bendora 11.4GL and
Googong 119.4GL

* Previous capacity refers to total combined storage levels before the completion of the new Cotter Dam. The new Dam was built downstream of the old and increased the total water storage capacity by approximately 35%.
