Mount Stromlo Water Treatment Plant tour

This Water Treatment Plant (WTP) is located at the top of scenic Mount Stromlo. It can treat up to 250 million litres of raw water a day. This water is then distributed through to homes and businesses throughout the ACT and bulk water supply to Queanbeyan.
This tour will teach you about Canberra and Queanbeyan’s water supply, the treatment process and how we deliver water straight to your tap.
Visitor Requirements
All visitors are required to wear full length long sleeves, long pants and enclosed shoes and PPE. For the safety of our community, we will not accept participants who do not wear the correct attire to our operational sites.

Participants require an adequate level of fitness to navigate the sites which include stairs, uneven terrain, narrow paths and steep inclines. Sites are not suitable for participants under 12 years old.
This tour is suitable for senior secondary, tertiary students and industry.
How long is this tour?
This walking tour of the site takes approximately 50 minutes to complete.
How many people can attend?
Tour group sizes at Stromlo WTP cannot exceed 30 people per tour. There must be a minimum of 10 participants otherwise it will be cancelled.
This tour is available for senior secondary (Grades 10 - 12) and tertiary students and Industry. Student groups and all participants under 16 years require supervision (e.g., teacher or lecturer) ratio of 1:15 (one supervisor per 15 students).
