Planning Approvals Processes

What are the planning approval processes for the project? 

Project 1 – This project requires an environmental impact statement (EIS). . The purpose of the EIS is to assess the project’s potential environmental impacts and determine how we manage these impacts.

An approved Development Application (DA) is also needed before construction can begin.

Approval of the EIS and the DA is managed by the ACT Government Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate (EPSDD). Both the EIS and the DA for project 1 have now been lodged with the EPSDD for assessment. The EIS and DA for Project 1 have now been lodged with the ACT Government’s Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate (EPSDD) for assessment. As part of this the project is now open to public consultation until 22 July 2019.

Projects 2, 3 and 4 – Proposed site selection has been completed. Development Applications for Projects 2, 3 and 4 have also been lodged and will have a separate consultation period, expected to commence mid to late June 2019. Icon Water welcomes feedback to understand how we may be able to minimise the impacts of these proposed projects.
