Cotter Dam Discovery Trail

The Cotter Dam Discovery Trail is a 1.4km walking tour* along the beautiful Cotter River. It ends at an amphitheatre-style platform overlooking the awe-inspiring Cotter Dam. This tour will teach you about Canberra’s water history. Including the local environment, the complex engineering behind the Enlarged Cotter Dam Project as well as the Indigenous and European heritage of the area. Join Us!

Tours take about 50 minutes and are suitable for students from primary all the way to tertiary. There can be a minimum of 10, to a maximum of 40, participants per tour. For school groups we require a supervision ratio of 1:30.

For larger groups, and classes of over 40 participants, we can arrange consecutive tours. We provide alternative, and engaging, educational activities for teachers who would like to run consecutive sessions.
