School Education Sessions

Along with onsite tours of the ACT’s water and sewerage dams and treatment plants, we also provide for education sessions or presentations. These sessions are tailored for your audience year level and curriculum outcomes. Delivered in your classroom for students to learn more about Canberra’s water supply network and treatment processes, and the ways Icon Water supply essential and valued services to the ACT region.

The ACT Urban Water Cycle - Catchment Model - (Years 2–8)

Book an in-class session with our urban water cycle model. This 3D model showcases the ACT’s water cycle and supply network. It teaches your students all about the water treatment process and our role in the community.

Water Treatment Processes (Years 7-12) 

Book a digital live webinar or dam tour to learn about the cyclical journey water takes to, and from, our catchments to the Murrumbidgee River.  

Learn all about the ACT processes of water treatment processes of separations that ensures we have high quality drinking water on tap every day.  Find out about the physical, biological and chemical processes that Lower Molonglo Water Quality Control Centre operations provide daily to ensure our sewage is cleaned and high-quality effluent is returned to the Murrumbidgee River.  

Education sessions are tailored for audiences according to curriculum outcomes. Sessions run for a minimum of 30 minutes. Multiple class sessions are encouraged with in-class bookings.
Education sessions and tours are available free for all schools and community groups within either the ACT or Queanbeyan region. Our community engagement staff hold current Working with Vulnerable People Cards and have current first aid training.
