Water in the ACT – Top of the Cotter Dam Tour and environmental educators networking event

Time: 4:45pm to 6:45pm

  • Arrival 4:45 pm for 5:00 tour departure. - meeting at Cotter Discovery Carpark to convoy up through the gate to top of Cotter Dam
  • 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm - Cotter Dam Top wall - (via locked service road off Paddy River Road) 5:45 pm - 6:30 pm – networking evening and catered supper (Cotter avenue
  • Sunset at 7:00 pm.

 Activities:

  • The Australian Association for Environmental education ACT Chapter invites all members, and environmental educators in the ACT and Queanbeyan to join us for a professional learning evening at the Cotter Dam to learn more about our Water in the ACT.
  • A special tour will be provided for participants to visit the top of the Cotter Dam to view and learn all about the size and shape of the urban water cycle in the ACT. Hosted by Icon Water, Canberra's Water utility, this tour will overview the amazing journey of your drinking water from source to tap, sink to sea. It will include the environmental, engineering, and water supply aspects of the Cotter Dam and the techniques used to supply the ACT and Queanbeyan with clean fresh water for the past 100 years.
  • The event will follow with an interactive networking session in the Cotter Avenue followed by a sunset supper in the Cotter. Please advise of any dietary requirements.
  • This networking session will provide participants with the opportunity to learn all about the natural and urban water cycle and education programs in the ACT including: Healthy Waterways H2OK, ACT Upper Murrumbidgee Waterwatch, Actsmart Schools, Icon Water education and meet fellow ACT educators.
  • AAEE ACT chapter members look forward to you joining us for our exciting Term One professional learning evening tour and networking evening.

** In the event the weather does not permit us to run the tour, we will convene at the Icon Water Mitchell Office. All participants will be advised the day prior when a change to the evening is made. Please note there is no phone reception at the Cotter
