ACT 2025–2026 water and sewerage pricing update
The Independent Competition and Regulatory Commission (the independent regulator) has updated water and sewerage prices for the ACT for the upcoming financial year.
Icon Water will adjust prices from 1 July 2025, reflecting the independent regulator’s decision.
For a typical household using 200,000 litres (200 kilolitres) of water per year, the changes will result in a 7.6% increase to their combined water and wastewater bill, equivalent to less than $2 per week.
The price changes are consistent with the Commission’s direction for the 2023–28 period, which identified inflation and critical infrastructure investments as the primary drivers for increased tariffs over the 5-year pricing period. These investments include major upgrades to key water infrastructure assets and Canberra’s primary wastewater treatment plant at Lower Molonglo.
This price update also reflects initial costs of implementing new ACT legislation for individual unit metering which is being implemented over the coming years.
Icon Water offer flexible programs for customers who may need extra help paying their bills from time to time. We have a range of flexible payment options available to support people seeking temporary or longer-term financial assistance that can be tailored to suit individual needs.
Icon Water’s Staying Connected program is available to assist our residential and small business customers needing more personalised support with affordable payment plans.
From 1 July bills will include a message outlining the price changes as well as a website link where customers can get more information.
Icon Water continues to plan for the future and deliver water and wastewater services in a sustainable and efficient way, supporting the ACT community and providing our customers with value for their money.
